Sonu Sood to play Sher Khan in ‘Zanjeer’ remake?

Even though Sonu's name was earlier considered for the role,the makers went ahead and finalised Arjun.

Actor Sonu Sood has been approached again for playing the iconic role of Sher Khan in the remake of Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Zanjeer’,after Arjun Rampal could not go ahead due to date issues.

Even though Sonu’s name was earlier considered for the role,the makers went ahead and finalised Arjun. But later Arjun he couldn’t find time for the project so the makers went to the ‘Dabangg’ baddie again.

“Yes I have been approached for the role of Sher Khan. But nothing has been finalised yet. I have not confirmed the project on paper yet,” said Sonu.

Actor Pran had given a memorable performance as Sher Khan sporting a typical Pathan’s look with long hair and kohl-lined eyes in Prakash Mehra’s 1973 hit.

Mehra’s son Amit is producing the remake version using the same title. The original action-thriller established Bachchan as the ‘angry young man’ of Bollywood.

The newer version of the film has Telugu actor Ram Charan teja stepping into the shoes of Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra will essay the role of Jaya Bachchan.

The shooting for the remake,which also stars Prakash Raj and Mahi Gill,began in April this year.

The remake faced quite a few hurdles in terms of copyright and royalty as the original writers,Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar,had expressed displeasure over the new version.
