Shubman Gill opens up on rumours of dating Sara Tendulkar, Sara Ali Khan and Avneet Kaur: ‘There’s hardly any time to invest in a relationship’

Shubman Gill is one of the most promising players in the Indian cricket team today. The 25-year-old all-rounder is not only the opening batter in One Day International cricket, but also the vice-captain of the Indian team in that format. He’s also the captain of the Gujarat Titans team in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Over the past few years, Shubman has also been in the news for his speculated affairs with fellow young, budding celebrities. He has most famously been linked with Sara Tendulkar, the daughter of ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. He’s also been linked with actors Sara Ali Khan and Avneet Kaur.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Shubman clarified that contrary to the rumours doing the rounds, he’s been single for over three years now. “There have been so many rumours and speculations linking me with different people. And sometimes, it would be so ridiculous that I’ve never seen or met that person ever in my life. Right now, I’m so focused on what I need to do in my professional career. There’s no space in my life to be able to be with someone. Three hundred days, we’re on the road, travelling somewhere. So there’s hardly any time to invest in a relationship with someone,” said Shubman.

Appearing on Koffee with Karan Season 8, Sara Ali Khan was asked by host and filmmaker Karan Johar about her alleged linkup with Shubman Gill. Sara reacted to the stadium audience cheering “Sara! Sara! when Shubman is batting, “You’ve got the wrong Sara, guys! Sara ka sara duniya galat Sara ke peechhe pada hai (The whole world is after the wrong Sara),” said the actor.

In an appearance on the Punjabi chat show Dil Diyan Gallan, hosted by Sonam Bajwa, Shubman was asked if he is indeed dating Sara. He answered, “Maybe.” When Sonam egged him on and said, “Sara ka sara sach bolo (Tell the whole truth),” Shubman replied, “Sara da sara sach bol diya (I have told the truth). Maybe, maybe not.” When he was asked to name the fittest actor in Bollywood, he replied, “Sara.”

Most recently, Shubman Gill was linked with Avneet Kaur, the 26-year-old actor who played the female lead opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Sai Kabir’s 2023 romantic comedy Tiku Weds Sheru, which marked Kangana Ranaut’s debut as a producer under her banner Manikarnika Films, and dropped directly on Amazon Prime Video. Avneet shared pictures on Instagram from India’s Champions Trophy win in Dubai earlier this year. One of the photos also featured Shubman, who was one of the star performers of the series.

Meanwhile, besides his cricketing achievements, Shubman has also lent his voice to India’s Spider-Man variant, Pavitr Prabhakar, in the Hindi dubbed version of Marvel’s 2023 animated blockbuster Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
