Kate Winslet braved the cameras for the first time after her much publicised split from filmmaker Sam Mendes as she took the couple’s young son out for a movie.

The Academy Award winning actress has hardly been seen in public since announcing her split from Mendes after a seven-year-long marriage, reported Daily Mail online.

The 34-year-old hid behind big dark sunglasses and clutched her six-year-old boy close to her as she ran into a waiting car.

Dressed down in denim shorts,lace-free sneakers and a blue jumper,Winslet maintained an expressionless face as she shielded her son from the throng of paparazzi.

She also has a daughter,nine-year-old Mia,from her first marriage to assistant director Jim Threapleton.

The triplex property, where the couple lived for six years,is in the city’s affluent Chelsea district and is said to have been put on the market for 3.9 million pounds.

Mendes,44,is believed to be living in an office that he has in the building, while the actress and the two children have remained in the three-bedroom,three-storey flat at the top of the building.
