Idris Elba is keen on taking Bond role

'Thor' actor said he doesn't want to be called the first black James Bond.

‘Thor’ actor Idris Elba is keen to take on the role of James Bond if he is offered but would not do it just to be the first black Bond.

The 39-year-old is willing to partake in the long running franchise about the British spy, reported Aceshowbiz.

“It’s a rumour. It’s a very old rumour. My dad and I were talking about this the other day. I would do it,but I don’t want to be called the first black James Bond. Do you understand what I’m saying? Sean Connery wasn’t the Scottish James Bond and Daniel Craig wasn’t the blue-eyed James Bond. So if I played him,I don’t want to be called the black James Bond,” Elba said.

Currently, the character is being played by Craig who is back for his third movie to be directed by Sam Mendes but it is not known if he will reprise the part for a fourth time.

Elba has a number of films set for release including ‘Alien’ prequel,’Prometheus’ alongside Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron and ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’.
