Final ‘Harry Potter’ crosses $1 billion mark

'Deathly Hallows' has earned $1.01 billion as of Sunday,including domestic total of $318.5 million.

The final ‘Harry Potter’ film ‘Deathly Hallows 2’ has become a part of the exclusive billion dollar club.

‘Deathly Hallows’ has earned $1.01 billion as of Sunday,including a domestic total of $318.5 million and international cume of $690 million. The pic tied the record for the fastest climb to $1 billion,accomplishing the task in only 17 days.

The film also is the top grossing film in Warner history worldwide,the Hollywood Reporter said.

“Transformers: Dark of the Moon” is also in the race to join the club. The film’s worldwide collection rose to $983 million over the weekend,including a domestic total of $337.9 million and international haul of $645 million. As with Deathly Hallows 2,Dark of the Moon will become the first title in its respective franchise to hit $1 billion in global grosses. The billion dollar club include ‘Avatar’ ($2.8) billion),’Titanic’ ($1.8 billion),’The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King’ ($1.11 billion),’Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest’ ($1.07 billion),’Toy Story 3′ ($1.06 billion),’Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ ($1.03 billion),’Alice in Wonderland’ ($1.02 billion),’Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2′ ($1.01 billion) and The Dark Knight ($1.00 billion).
