Besides being one of the biggest stars in Indian cinema today, Rajinikanth is also renowned for his humility and down-to-earth nature. A complete outsider, he broke into show business and made his way to the top through sheer dedication, becoming an inspiration to both established actors and aspiring talents alike. Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan himself once recalled working as a child actor alongside the Tamil superstar, affectionately called “Thalaivar” (leader) by his fans, in the 1986 Hindi film Bhagwaan Dada, directed by his grandfather J Om Prakash. Hrithik shared that during the shoot, Rajinikanth often took the blame for Hrithik’s mistakes, further revealing his compassionate nature.
“What can I say about Rajini sir?! I’m speechless! When I was young, during the time of Bhagwan Dada, I used to consider Rajini sir as a friend and say whatever I wanted to say to him. He was so gracious back then and knew that I was just a child. I think he forgave a lot of things I must have done and said at that time. But one thing I remember very clearly is that whenever, during the takes, I made mistakes in the dialogues and my grandfather called cut because of my fault, Rajni sir would say, ‘Sorry sorry, I made a mistake sorry’. He would take responsibility for my mistakes and made me feel, that ‘You’re okay. It’s not your fault, I made a mistake.’ So I remember that now with so much love in my heart,” he once said during a chat with Samachar Plus.

“I think that’s why he is who he is. Making a child feel comfortable like this and to not break his confidence, was the sweetest thing. For Kaabil, Rajini sir sent me a message that I have saved and I think I will read it many many times in my life,” he added. Also starring Rakesh Roshan, Sridevi and Tina Munim in key roles, Bhagwaan Dada was a commercial failure upon release.
In addition to Bhagwaan Dada, Thalaivar has acted in several Hindi films, including Andhaa Kaanoon, Jeet Hamaari, Meri Adalat, Gangvaa, John Jani Janardhan, Mahaguru, Wafadaar, Geraftaar, Bewafai, Dosti Dushmani, Gair Kanooni and Hum, among others. Rajinikanth was last seen in Vettaiyan, while Hrithik’s most recent release was Fighter.
