Sushmita Sen says she was ‘amused’ with comments on her being a gold-digger during Lalit Modi fiasco: ‘I laughed my lungs out’

‘When good people keep quiet, the bad just thrives’

The actor added, “What bothers me is that when good people keep quiet, the bad just thrives. I have seen that happen too many times. We think it’s not elegant to respond. Let elegance be damned. I just need people to know I am laughing my lungs out, and it just shows me that generations have changed, but people haven’t changed morally and ethically much.”

Back in 2022, reacting to reports of her dating businessman Lalit Modi, Sushmita Sen wrote on Instagram, “I dig deeper than Gold…and I’ve always (famously) preferred Diamonds! And yes I still buy them myself.”

Sushmita also called out the mentality of people about a man buying diamonds for a woman. She shared, “It’s so insulting to even imagine the kind of upbringing people must have for them to believe that if a woman owns a house, somebody must have gifted it, if she is wearing a diamond, a man must have given it. And, that after knowing that this person is a financially independent woman.”

Sushmita Sen was last seen in the JioCinema series Taali, which received mostly positive reviews. Next, she will be seen in the third season of Disney Plus Hotstar’s hit series Aarya, for which she has already wrapped the shoot.
