Filmmaker Ramesh Sippy believes if Bollywood and southern filmdom join hands, they can achieve greater results.

“When regional and Hindi cinema industries can come together, so many problems can be sorted. Together, they can achieve a lot more,” Sippy said here on the sidelines of IIFA-FICCI Media and Entertainment Business Conclave.

Quoting the example of S.S. Rajamouli’s “Baahubali”, which was appreciated nationwide, the “Sholay” director said: “It’s heartening to see a south Indian film ‘Baahubali’ joining the highest ranks. It’s a pat on the southern cinema.”

Talking about the issue of piracy, he said it’s not impossible to stop it.

“With technology, everything is at our fingertips. If we can use technology to reach a destination, why not use to monitor piracy; find out who is doing it,” he said.

It’s due to piracy, Sippy said, the entertainment sector doesn’t even get 10 percent share of the overall business.
