Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor have been childhood friends, thanks to their filmy background. Once when their fathers, Shakti Kapoor and David Dhawan were shooting for a film, Shraddha, eight then, who was also on the set, had developed a liking towards Varun Dhawan. During this time, she took him on the mountains to confess her love to him, which a young Varun rejected. However, the consequences were quiet filmy when the Stree 2 actress got him beaten up for rejecting her. They were both eight at the time.

Varun Dhawan recently recalled the incident during an interaction with YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra. Speaking about falling for Natasha, the actor shared, “When I had seen Natasha for the first time, I think I did have the feeling that ‘she is the girl’. I was in sixth grade. Yet, I knew there is some connection.” When the interviewer quipped. “Is this why you rejected Shraddha Kapoor?” Varun laughed and replied, “No ya.”

He shared, “We were eight. At this age, what guy likes a girl? I was simply confused about why was she taking me to the mountains… Whatever happened there, we all know. But, let me tell you the story post that.”

Varun Dhawan recalled how Shraddha remembered the rejection even after two years of the incident and had him beaten up in her tenth birthday. Varun shared, “It was Shraddha’s tenth birthday party. She had invited me to her birthday and she was wearing a frock. At that time, there were around four guys who were in love with Shraddha. It was a birthday party, so we were all playing in the jumping bag. Suddenly, I was surrounded by these guys, who questioned me, ‘Why don’t you like Shraddha?’ I was like, ‘I am interested in dance competition.’ They were like, ‘No, no, you will have to like her.’ I am not even kidding. These were the guys who liked her. They started fighting with me. I was beaten up. She made them beat me up because I was not accepting her proposal. But, I also beat them up. It was a very filmy scene. And then I went on to take part in the dance competition and even won it. She came third.”

Years passed when Varun saw Shraddha again. This time, it wasn’t the same.

The Coolie No 1 actor shared, “When Shraddha became a teenager. She had become extremely beautiful. We were in different schools. There was a dandiya competition at her school, where I had participated. There too I was in trouble as I hit someone with dandiya stick. I was running for my life. I was trying to hide when I saw this girl walking in slow motion. It was Shraddha Kapoor. That day, she looked extremely beautiful. That day, I regretted turning her down. We then became friends. This is a huge story. You ask her what happened next.”

Previously, speaking to the same interviewer, Shraddha Kapoor had shared her side of the story. She said, “It’s an old story that a lot of people already know about. Varun rejected my proposal. It’s funny to think about. We had joined our dad during one of their shoots. As a kid, I had a small crush on Varun. While we were playing, we reached the top of a mountain. I said, ‘Varun, I will say something in a reverse way and you’ll have to figure it out.’ So I said, ‘You love I.’ He replied, ‘I don’t like girls.’ Then he ran away.”

Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Dhawan then starred in the film ABCD 2 and Street Dancer 3D. They were recently seen sharing the screen in the film Stree 2, where Varun Dhawan had a cameo role. They also appeared in one of the songs from the film, Khoobsurat.
