Shilpa Shetty’s Bastian booked by Bengaluru police for operating beyond hours, days after brawl featuring Bigg Boss contestant

Bengaluru police have initiated a suo motu case against Bastian, co-owned by Shilpa Shetty, following a brawl that occurred late at night on December 11.

A video circulating on social media in recent days has drawn police attention, showing late-night footage from a Bengaluru pub linked to actor Shilpa Shetty. The CCTV recordings, captured at Bastian on St. Mark’s Road, depict a verbal dispute among patrons in the early hours of December 11, around 1:30 am. According to a report by The Hindu, Bengaluru police have registered case against Bastian Garden City, co-owned by Shilpa Shetty, for operating beyond permitted hours.

The clip circulating online show a tense argument and some heckling. Staff members are seen stepping in to defuse the situation. One of the individuals visible in the video is Satya Naidu, a businessman and former Bigg Boss participant. Addressing the controversy, Satya Naidu had earlier dismissed allegations of misconduct, stating, “I had gone to the pub solely to have dinner with friends.” He explained that the confusion occurred during payment and insisted that “there was no physical confrontation.”

Shilpa Shetty has been associated with the Bastian brand for a very long time as she partnered with its founder, restaurateur Ranjit Bindra. The police have also booked Sourberry Pub on Residency Road, previously linked to an incident involving Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan, where an obscene hand gesture prompted a preliminary inquiry. The Cubbon Park police confirmed that the cases were initiated suo motu after reviewing the videos, which suggested the pubs were operating beyond allowed hours. A senior officer said the actions were part of a broader crackdown on pubs ahead of the New Year.

Shilpa Shetty also owned a branch of Bastian in Bandra, which was closed in October this year. The brand, however, has been widely recognized as one of India’s premier restaurants. Writer and socialite Shobhaa De recently while speaking on Mojo Story, highlighted the popularity of Shilpa Shetty’s Mumbai-based restaurant, noting that it reportedly generates a turnover of Rs 2-3 crore every night, with patrons often spending lakhs for a single evening.
