Shehnaaz Gill, who gained fame after she appeared in Bigg Boss 13, has been actively promoting her Hindi film debut Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. During a recent interview, when Shehnaaz was presented with a few fan questions, the interviewer translated every question from English to Hindi. After answering a few questions, Shehnaaz interrupted him and said that she understands the language “a little” and isn’t a “failure.”
She told the Connect FM Canada interviewer, “English mujhe thodi thodi samjah aane lagi hai ab. Itni bhi failure nahi hun main (I understand English a little bit. I’m not such a failure.)” Shehnaaz said this with a laugh and the interviewer also shared a smile after her comment.
Shehnaaz has previously spoken about not being very comfortable in English during her stay in the Bigg Boss house but Shehnaaz has come a long way from those days. The Honsla Rakh actor used to frequently take a dig at herself when confronted with situations where she had to speak in English.
She once shared her version of the Justin Bieber song Peaches and shared in the caption, “Kaun kehta hai mujhe English nahi aati? Chahe Punjabi touch hai. English English hi hoti hai, chahe kisi bhi language mein bolo (Who says I don’t know how to speak in English? So what if it has a Punjabi touch? English is English, no matter what accent you speak it in).”
During the interview, Shehnaaz was asked about her learnings from her previous projects and the actor said that many production houses don’t respect actors who are not playing the lead roles and she wishes to change that.
She said, “Everyone should be equally respected. I have experienced in some production houses, a lot of people don’t give much importance to second leads and third leads, I feel everyone should be treated equally. When I become a big heroine, I will respect the second lead a lot because I have come from that place.”
