Socialite Shalini Passi, who rose to fame after appearing on the Netflix reality show Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, spoke about her lavish Delhi mansion and shared an insight into her highly curated lifestyle. In a new interview, Shalini said that her home, which she shares with husband Sanjay Passi and their son Robin, was constructed over a five-year period and is a labour of love. It also doubles up as a museum, owing to Shalini’s love for the arts.

In an interview with Curly Tales, Shalini shared quirky insights about her personality, and tasted a vadapao for the first time in her life. She said that enough people have made fun of her for this. “We moved here in 2010, it took us five years to construct this place,” Shalini said. Asked how many people live in the sprawling house, Shalini replied, “Loads of people, they’re like my family.” However, Shalini didn’t know exactly how many rooms there are in her house. “I’ve never counted,” she said.

Shalini also revealed that she rarely repeats clothes, but when she does, she prefers putting a spin on them. “Sometimes, instead of repeating them, I cut them up and create something new out of them. I dip-dye white clothes and turn them into something new. We have a master ji at home, he helps me out with this,” she said.

Shalini also provided some insight into her meals, and said, “Our menus are curated on the basis of our diets. We measure exactly how many nutrients we need in a day. We also figure out exactly what benefits each vegetable has. I’ve cooked a lot of food in my day, I’ve fed all of Delhi. I used to love desserts; I would make 10 cakes for events, like my birthdays.”

Shalini said that her house is home to a ‘toli’ of 30 monkeys, who often enter the grounds. “They love coming here,” she said. In an earlier interview, Shalini had said that she and her husband travel with their own vegetables, and provide them to the kitchen staff wherever they go. She had also opened up about the legendary artist MF Hussain designing bespoke wedding invites for her and Sanjay’s wedding.
