Dhurandhar: Who is ‘child prodigy’ Sara Arjun, 20, who Ranveer Singh compared to Dakota Fanning, ‘best actress’ he has worked with

Actor Sara Arjun will be appearing opposite Ranveer Singh in the upcoming Aditya Dhar directorial Dhurandhar. Their 20-year age difference has been discussed and at the film's trailer launch, Ranveer called her the finest actress he has worked with.

Director Aditya Dhar is all set to bring to the screen one of the most exciting projects of this year, Dhurandhar. Starring heavy-hitters like Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and more, the cast of the film has another interesting addition to it. Actor Sara Arjun is also a part of this ensemble, and if the trailer is any indication, the 20-year-old is going to be playing the romantic interest of Singh.

The 20-year age gap between Sara and Ranveer isn’t the only daunting thing about this film, as this will be the first Bollywood movie for the young actor as an adult. During the trailer launch for Dhurandhar, Ranveer lauded his co-star for her skills and said, “I am lucky to be part of such a special moment for you. Sara here is a prodigy. You will get to know. Some people, you know, are just like a child prodigy. Once Dakota Fanning came to Hollywood. I think, Sara, it’s a testament to the fact that you beat thousands of other candidates to land this part.”

Ranveer continued and said, “It’s as if you (Sara) were born to do this. Esa lagta hai ki yeh 50 film karke aayi hai (It seems like she has already done 50 films). She is so precocious as a person and performer, and you are one of the finest actors who I have shared a screen with; you make me look better.” Director Dhar also chimed in and said, “Mukesh Chabbra had done almost 1300 auditions, and she was just brilliant; she was the best. She is going to be a rockstar.”

Sara Arjun’s filmography

Daughter of actor Raj Arjun and dance teacher Sanya Arjun, sara started acting and modelling while still an infant. She was first seen in TV advertisments including LIC, McDonald’s and Maggi, becoming a popular face in India. In fact, she did over 100 ads before she turned 5. According to an Indian Express article from 2006, Sara has been modelling since she was 21-month-old.

She started acting at age of 5 with tamil films. She was seen as the young Aishwarya Rai in both the instalments of the Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan. Her Hindi credits include projects like the anthology series Ajeeb Dastans and the Mridul Toolsidas film Toolsidas Junior, which also starred Sanjay Dutt. Reports claim she was the highest paid child actor in India. Dhurandhar sees her making her debut as an adult.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the cast of Dhurandhar includes Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, Mir Salman, and Manav Gohil.
