Actors Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal will soon be welcoming their first child. The couple, who first met on the sets of Fukrey, got married in 2020 during the pandemic but celebrated their union with their closest friends and family members in 2022. Richa and Ali come from different faiths and in a recent interview, when Richa was asked if they were surrounded by naysayers when they first decided to get married, Richa shared that when one falls in love, they do so without filters.

Talking to Galatta India, Richa shared, “If you stand firm with your choice and your immediate family is with you and supportive of you, nobody else really matters. And like I said, a human being is a human being first and when you go and fall in love, your search has no filters on. When you fall in love, that’s what it is.”

In the same conversation, when Richa Chadha was asked about the restaurants they would frequent in the early days of their relationship, Richa recalled that she did not want her family to find out through the press that she was dating Ali. “I didn’t want my family to find out from the press. you know, we also have families. When I was ready to discuss this at home with my family, then I thought I will just come out,” she said.

Richa said that she and Ali decided to announce their relationship when she wanted to travel with him for the premiere of Victoria and Abdul at the Venice Film Festival. “I remember I had to travel to be his plus one for the Venice Film Festival for (Victoria & Abdul) with Judi Dench. I was like… I am not missing your Judi Dench red carpet for the world. He was like but no one knows, so I said let’s just tell them now, it’s time,” she shared.

Richa Chadha had previously shared that she and Ali Fazal got married under the Special Marriage Act in 2020 but because of the pandemic, no one got to know that they had tied the knot. She shared with News 18, “We got married under the Special Marriage Act, the family court is right around the corner. And it was super peaceful. And I don’t think it’s out of the ordinary. It happens in society, which is why there is a very big act for it. Of course, I feel like media really makes these kinds of things, it’s actually terrible and is very corrosive for society.”
