Ravi Kishan reveals he played the part of Sita in plays: ‘I would take my mother’s saree…’

Ravi Kishan opened up about the times he played the part of Sita in plays and added that his father was furious after learning about it.

Actor-politician Ravi Kishan recently appeared on Rajat Sharma’s show Aap Ki Adalat. The actor recounted his teenage years when he got the chance to play the role of Sita in a play. Ravi also opened up about his struggles and explained how he boarded the train to Mumbai in fear of death.

Talking to Rajat about his childhood days, Ravi said, “I got the chance to play a part in Ramleela. I would take my mother’s saree and go. My father used to hit me a lot, saying, ‘Nachhaniya ban gaya.’”

The Bhojpuri actor explained that he came from a very poor background and he grew up as a priest’s son who never saw his mother wear a new saree. So, he decided to give them a better life and hence he would do anything including stealing.

Ravi Kishan said that he would steal from temples and added, “I would also steal from my father’s diary.” When asked if his father would beat him up, the actor said, “A lot. He would hit me with a leather belt.” When asked about how he reached Mumbai and became a huge star, the actor said, “My father caught me in Sita’s avatar one day. He hit me so much that I felt that I would die. That time, my mother gave me Rs 500 and said to run away. I ran to save my life.”

Ravi, who made his silver screen debut in 1992, has been a part of many hit Hindi and Bhojpuri films.
