Ratna Pathak Shah on actors working with heroines half their age: ‘They aren’t ashamed to romance actresses younger than their daughters’

“When they don’t feel ashamed, then what should I say? They are not ashamed to romance actresses who are younger than their daughters, so there is nothing for me to say. I mean it’s an embarrassment,” she said.

However, 66-year-old veteran, who has been part of memorable films such as Lipstick Under My Burkha, Khoobsurat, Kapoor & Sons, is hopeful that women will soon lead the way in cinema and change will happen.

“There will be change. I’m sure, women are not going under the burqa or ghunghat anymore, we are economically more viable today, we will drive certain stories, women will make their way, it will take time but we will surely make our way,” she said.

Dhak Dhak is set to release on October 13 and stars an ensemble cast including Ratna Pathak Shah, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Dia Mirza, and Sanjana Sanghi.
