After Karan Deol, the elder son of Sunny Deol, made his Bollywood debut in the 2019 film Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, it’s now the turn of Sunny Deol’s younger son, Rajveer Deol, to make his mark in Bollywood with the upcoming movie Dono. Unlike Karan, who starred in a film produced and directed by his father, Rajveer chose to audition for his role and carve his own path in the industry. In a recent interview with News18, Rajveer shared his joy at securing the role in Dono independently and shed light on how Karan didn’t have the same creative freedom when he was launched by their family.

Reflecting on Karan’s experience when his debut film Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas didn’t perform well at the box office, Rajveer expressed, “I was prepping up so there was no discussion that my family was going to launch me. After Pal Pal Dil Ke Pass was released, I saw him going through his (Karan) all-time low. So my biggest challenge is having a fear of not earning it on your own and making it on your own. So when Dono happened, I am glad that they asked me to audition as I don’t want to feel that I am not worth it.”

Regarding his relationship with his brother, Rajveer mentioned, “We are good pals and we talk telepathically rather than having a conversation (laughs). He told me that I was lucky to be launched outside the family because he saw the difficulty of being launched by the family. He did not have the freedom to choose the character he wanted to play or have a perspective as there are many seniors like my father who were a part of Pal Pal Dil Ke Pass. So when these people are involved, it puts a chain on an actor to have freedom to explore. He was really happy that I was doing Dono which was not our production.”

Apart from Rajveer, Dono also marks the debut of Paloma Thakeria, Poonam Dhillon’s daughter, and marks the directorial debut of Avnish Barjatya, the son of Sooraj Barjatya, director of Rajshri Productions. The film is scheduled for release on October 5.
