Actor Priyanka Chopra, who will next be seen in Joe and Anthony Russo’s Citadel, recently said that she will not be ‘sidelined’ in Hollywood because she is a good actor. The actor also admitted that she didn’t audition for Citadel, but noted that even if she had, she would have won the job.
In an interview with The Tribune, Priyanka talked about Indian representation in Hollywood films and said, “We produce more than a thousand movies in India every year. Our technicians are world class, our technicians are hired by Hollywood to do a lot of their work, because we are good at our jobs. But yet we are sidelined.”
The actor said that more opportunities need to be created for Indians across the globe and she is facilitating the same in Hollywood. She said, “I’m developing multiple shows with them which not only star Indian faces but also have Indian faces behind the camera, women behind the camera, writers and directors. I want to be able to influx Hollywood with brown faces because I know how talented we are and how much we deserve to be on the world stage.”
Priyanka also said that it took her 10 years in Hollywood to get pay parity with her male co-star and said, “It will take time but I’m not scared of it and I’m very hopeful that in the next five years you’ll see a very changing landscape.”
