This incident reminded netizens of the time when the same paps had addressed the pop singer as “Nickwa” during one of his visits to Mumbai. A user commented, “NICKWA remains the superior nickname.” Others recalled the time when the paps called, “Jija ji Sharma gaye and Nickwa is on another level”.

Previously, when Nick Jonas visited India to attend the inaugural ceremony of Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, the paps addressed him as Nickwa. During his appearance on the BBC Asian Network Breakfast Show, the singer reacted to being called these things in India. He said, “We were just in Mumbai recently for the cultural centre the Ambanis opened and it was a great event. All the photographers on the red carpet were calling me jiju.”

Referring to “Aey, Nickwa”, the host asked “They were calling you something else also. Did you hear that?” He said, “I did hear that. It was very good to be back. I love India. It’s been a couple of years, because of Covid, since I was there. So, this was a fun trip. Great to hear all the nicknames that I have now.”

Siddharth Chopra and Neelam Upadhyaya kick-started their wedding festivities about three days ago with their Mehendi ceremony. This was followed by a Haldi ceremony. Nick Jonas was not part of these celebrations, while Priyanka Chopra attended the ceremonies right from the beginning. She also took to her Instagram handle to share glimpses of her brother’s haldi and mehendi ceremony.

Siddharth and Neelam had their roka ceremony back in April last year. The festivities was followed by a Hastakshar ceremony in August.
