Kesari Veer Box Office Collection Day 1: Sooraj Pancholi's period epic had a disastrous opening at the box office, setting the stage for his four failure in a row.
Kesari Veer box office collection day 3: Sooraj Pancholi’s comeback film fails to cross Rs 1 crore mark.Kesari Veer Box Office Collection Day 1: The Suniel Shetty and Sooraj Pancholi-starrer Kesari Veer had a poor start at the box office, as it failed to cross the Rs 1 crore mark on its opening day. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s India nett collection on day one stood at just Rs 25 lakh, making it the worst opening of this year, falling short of even Azaad, which managed to collect Rs 1.5 crore on its first day.
The film was promoted quite extensively and was also considered to be Sooraj’s latest comeback to Bollywood; he made his debut with the film Hero, and then starred in Satellite Shankar and Time to Dance. But the film’s opening day collections seem to indicate that the promotions didn’t make a dent in the public’s eye, as the film recorded poor occupancy through the day. Sacnilk reported that the morning and afternoon occupancy rates were 3.4% and 7.2%, respectively, while the evening and night shows grew to just 5.9% and 9.8%.
Sooraj, who was previously involved in a legal case regarding his late girlfriend Jia Khan’s suicide, was last seen in Stanley D’Costa’s Time To Dance in 2021. During the trailer launch for the film Kesari Veer, Shetty congratulated Sooraj and urged people to go watch him and witness his hard work and talent. He said, “He’s seen a lot. Now, he’s got this second chance. Trust me, this is an opportunity the Almighty has given, that Mahadev (Lord Shiva) has given. You’ll see it in the film that he’s unbelievably good!” The actor even admitted that Sooraj reminds him of his son Ahan and acknowledged the difficulties young actors have to deal with in this day and age.
Kesari Veer faced competition from the Rajkummar Rao-starrer Bhool Chook Maaf, which fought its way back to theatres after the studio behind it, Maddock Films, had decided to release it straight to OTT. The movie made a decent crack and earned Rs 6.75 crore. It remains to be seen how long Kesari Veer will be able to hold on to its place in theatres. Directed by Prince Dhiman, the cast of the film includes Vivek Oberoi, Akansha Sharma and Mukesh Agrohari.
