Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda-starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan released 25 years ago, and clashed against Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The David Dhawan film was a comedy that left the audience in splits as they enjoyed watching Bachchan and Govinda on the same screen. The duo had great chemistry here but to get their timing right, on screen and off it as well, was quite a task.
Govinda was famous for arriving late on set and Bachchan, on the other hand, was known to be punctual to a fault. So,when Govinda got to know that he would be starring with Amitabh here, he had a conversation with the senior actor. A few years ago, in a chat with Aaj Tak, Govinda recalled that at the time, he had taken up too many projects and it was difficult for him to show up on time. He recalled with a laugh, “When I started the film, I spoke to Mr Amitabh Bachchan and said ‘Sir, I have signed too many films, senior actors often don’t work with me. How are you here?'”
Govinda then decided to have a word with Amitabh so they could work out a system. “I requested him that I hope this question does not arise that I don’t come on time. Mr Bachchan said, ‘You call me and let me know what time are you coming. I don’t have a problem and it is not my concern if anyone has a problem with your timings’. After this conversation, I signed that film,” he shared.
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan also starred Raveena Tandon, Anupam Kher, Ramya Krishnan, Paresh Rawal, Kader Khan among others. Madhuri Dixit had a special appearance in the film.
