Gulshan Devaiah recalls his ‘uncomfortable’ visit to Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat, felt like an ‘outsider’: ‘Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, everyone was there’
Gulshan Devaiah shares details about a star studded party at Shah Rukh Khan's house, which was attended by the likes of Karan Johar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Joel Edgerton.

Much like Shah Rukh Khan, his mansion Mannat has its own separate lore. Everyone who has been to his house has their own story about entering the bungalow for the first time, and experiencing the hospitality of the biggest star of the country. Actor Gulshan Devaiah, who was recently seen in Kantara Chapter 1, also shared the story about his visit in a new interview, and shared how he landed up at an afterparty at Mannat.
While appearing on the Bollywood Bubble podcast, Gulshan was asked about a piece of news that was floating around a couple of years ago. The story suggested that Gulshan had barged into Mannat, and the actor quickly came to his defense and said,
In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Gulshan was asked about the time when he “barged” into Mannat and the actor quickly interrupted and said, “I didn’t barge in, I was invited. Agar Shah Rukh Khan ke ghar mai ghusa hota toh abhi jail mai hota (If I would have barged in Shah Rukh’s house, I would have been in jail) Some journalist must have heard the word gatecrash for the first time in an English movie, and that is why they used that.”
Gulshan then recalled his visit to Mannat and said, “The Filmfare nominations were being announced for 2012 and Shah Rukh was also there. My nomination was also supposed to announced but it didn’t happen because Maniesh Paul was hosting and he was too busy passing time with Madhuri Dixit; he is a huge fan. I was with my wife, Anurag Kashyap and Kalki Koechlin. We were all sitting together when Shah Rukh came and invited them to the afterparty at Mannat.”
Gulshan added that Anurag and Kalki were a little hesitant at first, but SRK insisited, and asked them to bring Gulshan and his wife Kallirroi Tziafeta along as well. “The entrance of Mannat isn’t where people think it is. It’s actually a separate road that takes you there, but now it might get changed because it’s getting renovated. I stayed there for about three hours and I was very uncomfortable during the whole time. I felt like I didn’t belong there. But that was a realisation, I told myself that I should feel like I belong here because there is no point in whatever I am doing if I don’t feel that way. Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, everyone was there,” he said.
The actor clarified that the hosts were more than respectful towards him, “Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan were very sweet to me even though its not their job to make me feel comfortable. Actor Joel Edgerton was there, and I think I talked to him the most. He was really friendly, and I kept looking at him thinking ‘Where have I seen him?’ I think I felt comfortable with him because he was also an outsider in that party.”
