‘Got a scolding from PM Narendra Modi’: Mithun Chakraborty gives health update after suffering stroke
Mithun Chakraborty was diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) of the brain, after being admitted to hospital over the weekend.

Actor-politician Mithun Chakraborty was discharged from a Kolkata hospital on Monday. The 73-year-old actor was admitted to the Apollo Hospital on Saturday (February 10) after complaining of severe chest pain. He was diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) of the brain. However, he is now said to be “absolutely fine,” and will soon resume shooting for upcoming films.
According to news agency PTI, a few hours after he was declared to be “stable,” he was quoted as saying, “There is actually no problem, I am absolutely fine. I have to keep control of my food habits. Let’s see; I may start working soon, maybe tomorrow.”
Mithun also shared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi phoned him on Sunday, to ask after him. He said that he “got a scolding for not taking care” of his health. According to hospital officials, several doctors reviewed his health condition and treated him. The actor also underwent a series of clinical tests, including an MRI.

BJP leader Sukanta Majumdar visited the veteran actor at the hospital on Sunday and shared a few pictures of their meeting on social media. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Visited Shri Mithun Chakraborty at the hospital today.Wishing the legendary actor a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with him during this difficult time…”
Mithun Chakraborty was recently honoured with the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in the country. He has acted in around 350 films in Hindi, Bengali, Odia, Bhojpuri and Tamil. The actor was shooting for a film titled Shastri when he experienced the health setback.
