Gadar 2 box office collection day 12: Sunny Deol’s film enters Rs 400 cr club; becomes second highest Bollywood grosser after Pathaan

Gadar 2 is on course to cross the Rs 500 cr mark in its lifetime run and will aim to cross the record of Pathaan, which is the highest-earning Bollywood film of all time at Rs 524 cr (Hindi language only).

Will Gadar 2 replace Pathaan as the highest-grossing Indian film?

According to Sacnilk, Gadar 2 may find it tough to beat Pathaan’s record, mainly due to the “unprecedented business’ of the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer in the first five days. While Gadar 2 had earned Rs 229 cr in its first five days, Pathaan had clocked Rs 271 cr. Pathaan’s collections, including dubbed versions, stand at Rs 543 cr.

Even if Gadar 2 isn’t able to breach the all-time record of the Yash Raj Film’s spy actioner, its numbers are impressive considering it had a box office face-off with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 and Rajinikanth’s Jailer, while Pathaan was a solo release.

Sequel to the 2001 release Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Gadar 2 featured Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma reprising their roles from the original. The film was directed by Anil Sharma, who had also helmed the blockbuster’s first part of the movie.
