Emraan Hashmi says he was star-struck by Aishwarya Rai, waited outside her trailer for 1.5 hours to catch a glimpse
Emraan Hashmi admitted to being star-struck by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The actor previously sparked controversy by referring to Aishwarya as 'plastic' on Koffee With Karan Season 4.
Emraan Hashmi has admitted to being star-struck by Aishwarya Rai. Emraan Hashmi is currently basking in the success of his latest film Tiger 3, where he plays a prominent role alongside Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. In a recent interview, the actor admitted to being star-struck only once in his life thanks to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. This statement comes after the actor previously sparked controversy by referring to Aishwarya as ‘plastic’ on Koffee With Karan Season 4.
Speaking on Connect FM Cannada, Emraan talked about how he waited outside Aishwarya’s vanity van to get a glimpse of the actor. He said, “I have been starstruck by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Actually, I had never done this before. I waited outside her van when I was an assistant director with my cousin Mohit Suri. He was also an assistant at that time. I waited for atleast for one-and-a-half-hours. I had not done that before. It was ridiculous. We were assisting for Raaz but before that I had seen her film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and I was a huge fan. I wanted to get a glimpse of her.”
During a Koffee With Karan episode nearly a decade ago, Emraan Hashmi was asked by Karan Johar to name an actor/actress that comes to his mind when he hears the word ‘plastic’. In response, Emraan mentioned Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s name, causing uproar among her fans. Later, Emraan apologised for his statement in a 2014 interview with Hindustan Times, stating, “I didn’t mean it. I’m a big fan of Aishwarya. It’s the format of the show. I cannot not say things and not win the hamper. I love her. I have always been a great admirer of her work. I knew people would make big deal out of it… so what, people make a big deal out of nonsense all the time.”
While promoting Tiger 3, Emraan admitted that his remarks about Aishwarya had led him to make several enemies in the film industry. He expressed in an interview with Zoom Entertainment, “You end up making many enemies…” When asked if this was why he doesn’t appear on shows anymore, he shared, “It’s too much to handle.” However, the actor clarified that he hasn’t softened his stance, humorously mentioning, “If I go on Koffee with Karan again, I’ll make a mess of things again. I’ll probably be worse-off in the rapid fire round than I was before. I don’t have anything against these people. I just wanted to win the hamper. And then you say weird things.”
