DJ Aqeel recalls performing at Aishwarya-Abhishek Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor-Saif weddings; reveals signing NDA for Anant Ambani’s baraat: ‘If I posted anything…’

DJ Aqeel also recalled performing at the wedding of steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal’s daughter, which was anchored by Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan.

Renowned DJ and composer Aqeel recently took a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about performing at the sangeet ceremonies of celebrity couples Aishwarya Rai-Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor-Saif Ali Khan during their respective weddings years ago, describing both events as “amazing.”

“Saif and Kareena’s (sangeet ceremony) was very small, with only very few people there at the Taj. Abhishek’s was at his house in Juhu — it was a crazy party. Both were fun. They are all my friends; I grew up with these guys. So, there was a sense of comfort, in knowing the whole crowd. It wasn’t like a stranger came in and performed. Most of them even attended my wedding,” he recalled during a chat with Siddharth Kannan.

DJ Aqeel also recalled performing at the wedding of Lakshmi Mittal’s daughter. Mittal, an Indian-born steel magnate based in the UK, is the executive chairman of ArcelorMittal. “Shah Rukh Khan and Saif were also there at that party in Paris, anchoring.”

Opening up about his performance at the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, Aqeel said, “The baraat had 13 stages and I was on one of them. It was good fun. It was like a non-stop four-and-a-half to five-hour marathon with all the artistes; you name them, they were there.” When asked why his pictures from the event weren’t widely seen on social media, the DJ-composer explained: “I had signed an NDA stating that if I posted anything on social media, they would sue me.”
