Diljit Dosanjh forced himself to find an inner turmoil after watching Rockstar, but couldn’t: ‘There is no pain in my life’
Diljit Dosanjh said that he was very inspired after watching the film Rockstar. The actor will next be seen in Amar Singh Chamkila.

Actor-musician Diljit Dosanjh, who is all set to star in Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila, has opened up about how could not find any pain in his life and attain a level of ‘madness’ that is popularly associated with great artists. Diljit said that after watching the Ranbir Kapoor starrer-Rockstar, he thought about it and tried to feel the same kind of pain, but he couldn’t.
In an interview with Film Companion, Diljit was asked about the connection between art and pain. The singer said, “I was very troubled with this thought. I never had any pain or troubles in my life. I thought, I am an artist, I have been working hard from the start, but how will I reach that level of ‘pagalpan?’”
He continued, “There is no pain in my life. I am an artist. First I tried (finding pain) after watching Rockstar. I was very inspired by Rockstar, it is a great film and Ranbir also did a great job. After watching the film, I tried finding my inner pain. But I did not find any. Then I was like, let’s continue without pain.”
Imtiaz, who also helmed Rockstar, said that there is no connection between ‘great art and broken heart.’ He said, “I don’t see that connection in the same way. In fact, the reason I made the film was because, since childhood, I also wondered how I could become a big person. But I used to feel the same. I was engaged with this thought, till I made the film (Rockstar). Then I realised that it is not that straightforward that if heartbreaks something great will happen.”
Amar Singh Chamika also stars Parineeti Chopra in a pivotal role. The film will start streaming on Netflix from April 12.
