Dhurandhar actor takes a dig at Yashraj spy universe, Pathaan and Tiger: ‘ISI and RAW agents won’t dance together in Aditya Dhar film’

Ranveer Singh’s real name is Jaskirat Singh Rangi, has an URI connect

He was also asked about Ranveer Singh’s real name in the film, which is later revealed to be Jaskirat Singh Rangi. Hinting towards a similarly named character in Dhar’s film URI, Sagar was asked whether this similarity meant something or if it was just something to throw the audience off. Sagar replied, “Even I am confused about this connection. I don’t know exactly what the name signifies, and even I thought, ‘Oh, this name was in Uri as well.’ Nothing about this was in the script, and I don’t really know what they are doing. But they have to do something new and big. Like make people wonder who exactly Bade Sahab is.”

He addressed R Madhavan’s character as well and said, “I haven’t discussed all this with the makers of the film. But everyone knows that Madhavan’s character is based on Ajit Doval. When I saw Maddy in the get-up, you could tell in one instant that he was playing Doval, and I almost didn’t recognise him.”

Political narrative in Dhurandhar

Sagar was then asked whether Dhar was trying to make a political statement with the film, and he quickly said that he was never briefed about something like that. While he distanced himself from the idea, he also said that the film was based on real-life events, not any kind of propaganda. “I don’t have much to do with any political party or politician. Whatever has been portrayed actually took place in real life, for example, the scene about fake notes. These things have happened in our country, and films like this are a lesson that all these mistakes should not be repeated.”

YRF Spy Universe Vs Dhurandhar

The next question was about the spy universe on the other side of the road, YRF’s Spy Universe, and whether they will be able to hold their own against Dhurandhar. Without naming them, Sagar lauded Dhar for making a much more realistic film and said, “I want to work with everyone. Even they (YRF) have given hit films, but Dhurandhar is a film based on reality. At the same time, it is also a commercial film. It has everything that a good film should have. That is why Dhurandhar reached so many people. ISI and RAW agents won’t dance with each other in real life, but maybe they want to please all sides with their film. In order to make money from all sides.” The actor meant YRF films trying to please people both in India and Pakistan.

The dancing comments are presumably digs on the characters of Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone, who both play ISI agents in Tiger and Pathaan, respectively.
