De De Pyaar De 2 box office collection day 4: Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De 2, the sequel to the much-loved 2019 romantic comedy, hit theatres this Friday. After a fairly decent opening weekend with domestic earnings of Rs 34.75 crore, the film appears to have stumbled at the crucial Monday test. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film recorded its first major drop on Day 4, earning only Rs 4.25 crore and bringing its total to Rs 39 crore. The decline from Sunday’s Rs 13.75 crore is close to 70%, a sharp fall given the combined star power of Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan, the goodwill from the original film, and the decent word-of-mouth surrounding the sequel.

On Monday, De De Pyaar De 2 registered an overall 9.96% Hindi occupancy. The morning shows started at 6.53%, climbed to 9.42% in the afternoon, hovered around 10.07% in the evening, and closed the night at 13.82%. Region-wise, Delhi–NCR had the highest number of shows (1,421) but clocked only 9.5% occupancy. Mumbai, with 840 shows, fared marginally better at 13.75%.

Day   India Net Collection
Day 1 Rs 8.75 Cr
Day 2 Rs 12.25 Cr
Day 3 Rs 13.75 Cr
Day 4 Rs 4.25 Cr
Total  Rs 39 Cr

In relative terms, the film has performed better than Ajay Devgn’s recent release Son of Sardaar 2, which earned Rs 27.1 crore in its first four days. However, it pales in comparison to Raid 2, another Devgn sequel that benefited from an extended weekend and had reached Rs 71.25 crore by Day 4. It also trails the last Devgn–Madhavan collaboration, Shaitaan, which collected Rs 61.25 crore in the same period. Even when compared to its own predecessor, the numbers fall short, as the original had earned Rs 44.73 crore by Day 4.

The film is also lagging behind several major releases of the year. Housefull 5, led by Akshay Kumar, had already crossed Rs 100 crore by Day 4. Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, despite a slower start, managed Rs 66.65 crore in the same timeframe. Even Salman Khan’s disastrous Sikandar posted Rs 84.25 crore by Day 4. Ayushmann Khurrana’s festive release Thamma, which opened to mixed reviews, collected Rs 65.6 crore in its first four days.

With new titles such as 120 Bahadur, Mastii 4, Tere Ishq Mein, Gustaakh Ishq, and Dhurandhar set to arrive over the next three weeks, De De Pyaar De 2 faces increasing competition. Whether the film can regain momentum during the weekdays or upcoming weekend remains uncertain.
