The murder mystery also stars Sara Ali Khan and Vikrant Massey and will drop on March 31. While promoting the film, the actor was asked about why she keeps taking long breaks between films and also facing the perils of stereotyping.
The actor shared that while she feels fortunate to have done some good work, she often ‘doesn’t get the work’ she wants to do. Talking about taking up lesser work, she told India Today, “You are offered the same thing… like a seductress. The same thing keeps coming back. Also, a lot depends on quality… the people you want to work with. So it’s a bit of both.”
Chitrangda further shared, “The couple of breaks I have taken in between haven’t helped at all. That has been one of the reasons.”
The Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi actor, however, said that when she looks back, she is thankful that people have remembered her work. She added how the industry has a short memory and to see people still love her is a ‘kind’ thing. “Even the younger lot, when they come and say they have watched Hazaaron… So I think good work does last. I feel fortunate,” she said.
When the journalist asked her if she had managed to shed her labels, the actor said that she didn’t understand why it happened in the first place. “In my first film, I was wearing cotton sarees with no makeup. My hair was in a bun. I hope to have done it (break out) but I really don’t know.”
Directed by Pavan Kripalani, Gaslight will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar.
