The actor also spoke about the film Om Shanti Om and revealed how Shah Rukh Khan’s second character ‘Om Kapoor’ was irritating.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the interviewer asked Arjun about Shah Rukh’s character in the film Om Shanti Om and it’s connection to nepotism. Arjun replied and said, “When he (Shah Rukh Khan’s character) is born the second time, he comes a nepo. It was an irritating character.”
In the film Om Shanti Om, Shah Rukh plays the role of Om Prakash Makhija, a poor junior film artist, who dies in a tragic incident. Later, Shah Rukh is reborn as son of a renowned actor who goes on to become a superstar.
The actor also spoke about star kids and how they get many chances compared to others. He said, “There is definitely a huge advantage a person has if they have a family member in a profession and if they want to start that profession, they would have a head start. They would maybe get many many chances than another person. That’s the destiny of that person… you don’t choose your family you are born into.”
Nepotism has become a controversial issue in film industries across the world with the priviliege and access of starkids being questioned. In India, Kangana Ranaut had brought up the issue initially, calling Karan Johar a ‘flagbearer of nepotism’ on his show, Koffee With Karan.
