Archana Puran Singh gives tour of her 75-year-old Dehradun home, scolds Parmeet Sethi ‘for behaving like jamai’: ‘Chupp kar’

She revealed that the delicate wooden work on the roof of the lobby was done by Kashmiri craftsmen, who were specially called to Dehradun by her father for the project. Archana then gave a glimpse of the spacious dining and living areas of the house, adding that some of the furniture and wall fittings are over 50 years old.

Archana’s ancestral village and farm with view of the Himalayas

Archana then took her audience to her ancestral village, Dudhali. She shared a glimpse of the school in the village that her father built on the same land where their 200-year-old ancestral house stands. The school is surrounded by farms owned by Archana and her extended family. She said, “Whatever farms you see around belongs to us – brothers, cousins, me and us family members.”

Archana also revealed that it was her father who built the road in front of the school. “Dad wanted to make a school in his village where there was nothing,” she said. The school carries deep ancestral significance, as it is tied to the history of her family. She even showed the 150-year-old room that once belonged to her grandfather. Archana’s mother was moved to tears when she saw the house where she had arrived as a new bride. Archana also shared a view of a massive 300-year-old tree planted by her great-grandfather.

She went on to give a tour of the farmland near the school. Pointing out the farms owned by her brothers and cousins, Archana later shared a video of her own patch of land, from where one can view both the Himalayas and the Shivalik hills at the same time. “When we retire, we will build a house here on our own land,” she said.

Archana also shared a glimpse of the guest houses her family has built near the farm, where tourists can stay and enjoy the peaceful mountain life. The family also enjoyed a hearty lunch there but which took some time coming. As a hungry Parmeet Sethi complained about delay in the lunch, Archana scolded him in good humour: ‘Chup kar, jawai ki tarah behave mat kar (Be quiet, don’t behave like the son-in-law)’.
