Aparshakti Khurana says it’s ‘PR game’ as he weighs on credit war for Rajkummar Rao-Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2: ‘Slightly unpleasant’

The Indian Express previously reported on the PR tussle between Stree 2 lead stars Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor to gauge who between the two should be given bigger credit for pulling in the audience.

The fight for Stree 2 credit has only intensified, with actor Aparshakti Khurana taking a dig at the “PR game” that has been happening ever since the horror comedy released on August 15 and emerged a blockbuster.

The Indian Express has previously reported how there is an on-going tussle for perception credits between Stree 2 lead stars Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, with an intense–but eventually embarrassing–campaign to gauge who between the two should be given bigger credit for pulling in the audience.

In an interview with Zoom, Aparshkati Khurana, who plays an integral part in the film, was asked about this credit war. When the journalist claimed that Shraddha has gained more popularity after Stree 2, despite not even having more screen time, Aparshakti nodded.

The actor said, “See this is a PR game. If your channel goes and asks audience, the original audience on street, are they saying this? I want to know that. So, this is a PR game, I don’t want to comment on it. I love each and every actor of my film. I am attached to them. In such a happy space, where the film has gotten so much love and success, this can come across as slightly unpleasant.”

“It shouldn’t have happened now, when everyone is in a happy space, celebrating the film. Amidst that, when this happens, then you have to also take a side, but I don’t want that. They are all equally close to me and I respect their journeys. Someone can dance well, act well, look well, or maybe do PR well. So there exists talent of all kinds, which help you in your journey. I wouldn’t call PR my most strong part,” he added.

Stree 2 has emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of all time, surpassing some of the biggies released in the last few years. The Amar Kaushik directed horror comedy has already grossed more than Rs 500 crore at the worldwide box office and is likely to join mighty actioners such as Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, Pathaan, Sunny Deol led-Gaddar 2 and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal as one of the top grossing Indian films of all time.
