Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar says he was disheartened that his August release OMG 2 had to undergo nearly 27 cuts by the Central Board of Film Certification, which ultimately certified the film with an ‘Adult’ rating.

Akshay said the A certificate to OMG 2 ensured that the target audience (children) he made the film for, didn’t even get a chance to view it. In an interview with India Today, Akshay opened up about OMG 2 and said no matter what he does, there will always be a section taking offence.

He said, “I made a movie on sex education and there was a problem. It was given an adult certificate. I made a film for children, but it was very unfortunate I got an adult certificate for it. Children should be watching it! Our population is 1.5 billion, don’t you think we require sex education? It was just very sad.”

Despite the A certificate and cuts, OMG 2 did impressive business at the box office as it netted Rs 145 crore, despite facing a mammoth opponent in the form of Gadar 2. There were some talks that an “uncut” version of OMG 2 would eventually hit streaming platforms, but Akshay Kumar said he didn’t want that to happen.

“The film is out on Netflix and people were saying that we should release the uncut version, but I said no. Because, let’s respect the censor board. We will put the same cut what they gave us. I respected them and went ahead with the same cut they gave us,” he added.

OMG 2, sequel to the hit 2012 film OMG – Oh My God!, was headlined by Pankaj Tripathi and also starred Yami Gautam. It featured Akshay in an extended cameo. Currently, the actor stars in Mission Raniganj, which has already been declared a box office washout.
