Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan turned heads at the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) 2024, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Sunday. Aishwarya won the Best Actress in a Leading Role (Critics) award for her performance in Ponniyin Selvan: II (2023), while Aaradhya was seen cheering for her mother. The mother-daughter duo shared a sweet moment on the red carpet and were also spotted engaging in a conversation with Aishwarya’s co-star, Vikram.
On the red carpet, Aishwarya and Aaradhya posed for the paparazzi while engaging in a conversation, with Aaradhya laughing alongside her mom. Aishwarya then kissed Aaradhya and held her hand as they posed for the cameras. Both mother and daughter dazzled in blingy black outfits—Aishwarya’s attire featured gold detailing, while Aaradhya looked adorable in an outfit with silver accents. The Guru star also greeted her fans and posed for a selfie with them.
When Aishwarya received the award from filmmaker Kabir Khan, Aaradhya cheered enthusiastically and clicked photos of her mom. Aishwarya was honoured for her portrayal of Nandini in the Mani Ratnam-directed Ponniyin Selvan: II. During her emotional acceptance speech, she said, “Thank you so very much, SIIMA, for honouring me with this award. It means the world to me because this was a movie so close to my heart, Ponniyin Selvan, directed by my guru Mani Ratnam. And honouring my work as Nandini in Ponniyin Selvan is actually celebrating the efforts of the entire team.”
Aishwarya and Aaradhya were seated next to Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya’s co-star in Ponniyin Selvan I and II. Vikram greeted Aaradhya, shook her hand, and had a conversation with them during the ceremony.
Aishwarya also indulged her fans outside the venue and sportingly clicked a selfie with all of them. The actor borrowed a phone from one of the fans and took the selfie.

In Ponniyin Selvan II, Aishwarya played dual roles. The two-part film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s epic Tamil novel of the same name. The ensemble cast also included Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Jayaram, Trisha, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Rahman, and R. Parthiban.
