Aditi Rao Hydari reveals fiance Siddharth was in tears after watching Heeramandi, drew parallels with his character in Rang De Basanti: ‘He couldn’t speak and his eyes were swollen’

Aditi Rao Hydari, who portrays Bibbojaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, recalls her fiancé, actor Siddharth, becoming emotional and overwhelmed upon watching the show.

Aditi Rao Hydari is currently basking in the success of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, with her performance as Bibbojaan receiving praise from critics and fans alike, despite the show opening to polarising reactions. The actor recently opened up about her fiancé, actor Siddharth, and his appreciation for her role in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial. The series, which has garnered significant attention, moved Siddharth to tears, reflecting the depth and impact of Aditi’s portrayal of Bibbojaan.

Discussing their shared passion for cinema, Aditi revealed that Siddharth loved Heeramandi and expressed a desire to meet director Sanjay Leela Bhansali in person. “He loved Heeramandi. He was so overwhelmed that he couldn’t speak. He was crying and his eyes were swollen. He told me he wanted to meet Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir as soon as he could,” Aditi told Puja Talwar during an interview.

He drew parallels between Aditi’s character Bibbojaan and his portrayal of Karan Singhania in Rang De Basanti, jokingly suggesting, “Now there will be two freedom fighters in the family, Karan Singhania and Bibbo Jaan.” In the series, a sought-after tawaif of Shahi Mahal, Bibbo Jaan sacrifices her life in the freedom struggle.

With a shared background in the film industry, both Aditi and Siddharth have strong connections to renowned director Mani Ratnam. Aditi revealed that Siddharth, after completing his MBA, began his career as an assistant director under Ratnam before being cast in S Shankar’s Boys.

Reflecting on their shared enthusiasm and love for their craft, Aditi highlighted the importance of embracing the inner child within both of them. “Enjoy what we do, love what we do. It is our fuel. But there is a 5-year-old in both of us so there is always excitement. We don’t weigh heavily on each other and ourselves. We try to keep it light. He sometimes gets into the method and I live to surrender but it’s two sides of the same coin,” she remarked, adding, “We don’t always discuss work but we do talk about things that made us move or feel. I am quite instinctive so he can verbalise what I feel.”As Aditi and Siddharth continue to support each other’s careers, fans are eagerly awaiting updates on their marriage. The couple announced their engagement on Instagram back in March.
