Abhinav Shiv Tiwari’s ‘Oass’ wins three awards at Ladakh International Film Festival

Abhinav Shiv Tiwari's 'Oass' us based on human trafficking.

Young filmmaker Abhinav Shiv Tiwari’s ‘Oass’ won three awards at the Ladakh International Film Festival (LIFF),including the honours for the best film and the best screenplay.

The film,based on human trafficking,also saw actress Divya Chhetri picking up the best actress award,announced on the last day of the second edition of the festival.

The closing ceremony was held at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra here this evening.

The finale began with locals performing a folk dance dressed in their traditional attire.

A tribute was paid to noted film personalities like actor Pran and filmmakers Yash Chopra and Rituparno Ghosh with small

clippings screened on their contribution to cinema.

Sewan Sing Yein got the best actor award for his performance in ‘KO:Yad’ while Manju Borah won the best director award for the same movie.

Jammu and Kashmir urban development minister Rigzin Jora,

who was present at the event,said,”We are grateful that some great filmmakers from across the world came down here to attend the festival.

“I do feel that there were a few hiccups this year,but I think we should work together and ensure things are better next year,” he added.
