Actor Shalini Pandey starred alongside Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan in Maharaj, which marked Junaid’s acting debut. In a recent interaction, Shalini shared a hilarious anecdote involving Aamir Khan, which also highlighted the superstar’s humility.

During an actress roundtable organised by Bollywood Hungama, Shalini revealed how she became friends with Junaid while working on Maharaj. Recalling the events after the film’s release, she narrated an incident involving a call from Aamir Khan. The 3 Idiots actor had reached out to confirm if she would attend the success party for Maharaj. However, their conversation took a comical turn when Shalini initially failed to recognise him.

Sharing the story, Shalini said, “I will tell you a funny story because I just remembered that what she [Nitanshi] is saying is so absolutely true about Aamir Sir… Now I have worked with Junaid so he is my friend and we were supposed to go to a party and he [Aamir] texted me saying, ‘Are you coming to the party?’ I was like, ‘Who is this?’ He was like, ‘Junaid’s dad.’ I was like, ‘Who’s Junaid’s dad?’ Then I was like oh! He said, ‘Aamir Khan!’”

Shalini admitted she felt embarrassed for not realising it was Aamir Khan, but the superstar took it sportingly. She added, “I told him, ‘Sorry, Sir!’ He started laughing and said, ‘No, no… Of course, I am your uncle; I am Junaid’s dad!’ For a moment, I genuinely forgot who Junaid’s dad was. And then I realized—it’s Aamir Khan!”

In Maharaj, Shalini played Kishore, the ex-fiancee of Junaid’s character, while Jaideep Ahlawat portrayed the main antagonist. Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and produced by Yash Raj Films Entertainment, the film garnered praise from both critics and audiences for its compelling narrative and strong performances.
