Aspirants who appeared for the exam can check their results on the official websites – upsc.gov.in and, upsconline.nic.in.
Now, the shortlisted candidates will be required to apply again in the detailed application form-I (DAF-I) for the mains exam. The dates and important instructions, the Commission said, for filling the DAF-I and its submission will be announced soon, the UPSC said while releasing the CSE prelims result.
The commission has previously notified candidates that there are a total of 150 vacancies for IFoS and for CSE 1,056. The vacancies this year have decreased, in contrast with 1,105 posts last year. However, only 712 posts were available in 2021 and 796 in 2020.
UPSC conducted the CSE Preliminary exam on June 16 in two shifts for GS paper 1 and GS paper 2. The exam was earlier scheduled for May 26, which was postponed due to the general elections by the Election Commission.
Furthermore, experts have said that the UPSC prelims exam was easier this year as compared to the one held in 2023. Deepanshu Singh, an educator and a mentor for UPSC aspirants said, “There were less questions of ‘pair type’, and more of ‘match the columns’ type questions” .

Step 3 – The result document will open on the candidates screen
Step 4 – Save and take a printout of the result for further reference.
Aspirants who qualify for the cutoff of prelims will have to appear for the Main exam, followed by a personality test (interview) to be selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and additional posts under Grade A and B for the central government and its departments.
