Teach for India Fellowship: Applications open; last date to apply is March 19

Teach for India on Tuesday announced that the final deadline for their fellowship programme is March 19. Teach for India is a two-year full-time fellowship. It aims to eliminate educational inequity by placing their fellows in schools in underprivileged communities.

To apply for the fellowship, the candidate must be a citizen of India or an overseas citizen of India (OCI). They should have a bachelor’s degree by June or July 2023 and must be fluent in English.

The fellows need not have prior teaching experience. They will be provided with rigorous training by the organisation. Teach for India fellows work as full-time teachers. Their operations are being run in Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Kolkata. The fellows will be paid a ssalary of Rs 23,043 per month and a housing allowance if they relocate from their home city for the fellowship.

The application process is conducted in three stages— application form and online test, a phone interview and an assessment centre. In the first stage, candidates have to showcase their past experiences and motivation to join the fellowship. In the second stage, there will be a 30-minute phone interview where they will be asked questions based on their application form. And, in the final stage candidates will get to know more about the programme and fellowship as well as showcase their competencies. There will be sample teaching and group activities in this round.
