Krishna Janmashtami 2025 Holiday: This year’s Janmashtami falls on August 16, a day after Independence Day. Students who have school holidays can expect a long weekend, till August 17.

Krishna Janmashtami 2025 State Wise Holiday List:  Krishna Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna, will be celebrated this year on Saturday, August 16, 2025. The festival is observed across India with devotional rituals, cultural programmes, and temple celebrations, particularly in Mathura and Vrindavan, regions closely associated with the deity’s life.

While Janmashtami is a nationwide festival, the declaration of holidays for schools, colleges, and other institutions varies from state to state. In many regions, schools and even banks remain closed, but the pattern is not uniform across the country.

Krishna Janmashtami 2025: Long weekend for students

This year’s Janmashtami falls a day after Independence Day (Friday, August 15). With the festival on Saturday, August 16, followed by the regular Sunday holiday on August 17, many students will enjoy a three-day break. Regular classes are expected to resume on Monday, August 18.
