Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday urged the vice-chancellors (VCs) of universities to secure the future of the coming generations while selecting faculty members and lay greater emphasis on vocational education which was the “need of the hour”.

Khattar said the VCs served as heads of universities for a limited period of time but the faculty they recommended for selection would render service for around 35 years which would shape the destiny of the future generations studying at the institutions.
He stressed on transparency in the recruitment process and said there should be no compromise on such issues. “A good faculty is essential in higher education for providing quality education to the youth so that they could grow as good citizens of the state and the nation,” he said.
Maintaining that “employment-oriented education” was the need of the hour, the Chief Minister said that universities should also lay emphasis on skill development for the youth so that they could become “employable”.
