The Tamil Nadu Youth Welfare Minister said this development has proved his party's stand that NEET is an arrangement to make the coaching centres and private medical colleges prosperous.

NEET PG 2023: Tamil Nadu CM, M K Stalin, has slammed the Centre for zero NEET PG cut-off decision. “They are accepting that ‘eligibility’ in the National ‘Eligibility’ Cum Entrance Test is meaningless,” the DMK President said.

“By reducing the NEET PG cut-off to ‘zero’, they are accepting that ‘eligibility’ in National ‘Eligibility’ Cum Entrance Test is meaningless. It’s just about coaching centres and paying for the exam. No more qualification is required.

“NEET = 0. NEET has nothing to do with merit, which we have been saying all along. It has become a mere formality, devoid of any real eligibility criteria. The Union BJP Govt remained heartless despite so many precious lives were lost and has now come up with an order like this. The BJP Govt must be removed just for causing loss of lives with the guillotine called NEET,” he posted on ‘X’.

DMK Youth Wing Secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin also agreed with the CM and alleged that the Centre reducing the qualifying percentile for NEET PG 2023 to be eligible for counselling to zero has shown the real ‘standard’ of the national test.

The question among students and parents is about the very need for the test when the Union government says that postgraduate courses in medicine could be pursued just by appearing in NEET, after harping on the so-called eligibility, he said on Wednesday.

The Tamil Nadu Youth Welfare Minister in a post on X said this proves “NEET was imposed by the union government only to benefit the private coaching centres and private medical colleges”.

He has also asked the Centre to explain the step. “The fascists supporting NEET at the cost of the lives of our dear children are answerable to this injustice and bias,” he said.
