IITs launch innovative courses in AI, robotics, data science, and more, empowering students with cutting-edge skills for the future.(Express photo/ Representative Image)Every year, the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) launches emerging courses which are either on the undergraduate, postgraduate level, or are short certification programmes. These courses range from Risk Management, Premier Banking to Artificial Intelligence, and more.
Check the list of such new programmes introduced by IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur and more.
Like last year, this time too, IIT Madras has rolled out a variety of courses to enhance students’ skill sets in emerging fields. These courses, announced on March 15, 2024, include Artificial Intelligence, Applied Data Science, Backend Development (Java Spring Boot), Cyber Security Analyst, and Android Application Development with Kotlin and Flutter.
Designed to meet the industry’s growing demand for specialised knowledge, these programmes are accessible through the SWAYAM Plus platform, with specific eligibility criteria for each course.
In addition to these courses, IIT Madras offers certificate programmes aimed at professionals and students seeking to deepen their expertise. These courses include Fundamentals of EVs and Charging Infrastructure (five months), Premier Banking (six months), Banking and Finance (three months), Mutual Fund (three months), Securities Operations and Risk Management (three months), and Digital Banking (three months). These courses typically require a relevant bachelor’s degree or work experience, providing valuable credentials for career advancement.
IIT Delhi‘s new MTech in Robotics is a two-year programme designed for engineering graduates with a valid GATE score. This course focuses on advanced robotics technologies, preparing students for careers in automation and intelligent systems. Prospective students can apply through the IIT Delhi admissions portal.
Another addition is the MSc in Biological Sciences, a two-year programme aimed at providing comprehensive knowledge and research skills in biological sciences. Eligibility for this course includes a relevant bachelor’s degree with a specified minimum percentage.
IIT Kanpur has introduced an MTech in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Engineering, a two-year programme for BE or BTech graduates with a valid GATE score. This course covers the design, development, and deployment of UAS technologies, equipping students with cutting-edge skills in this innovative field.
The institute also offers a certificate programme in Full Stack Development – MERN Stack, a three-month course for undergraduates and graduates focusing on web development using the MERN stack.
Additionally, the MTech in Cognitive Systems is a two-year programme open to graduates from various engineering and science disciplines with a valid GATE score, exploring cognitive science and AI applications.
MTech in Data Science is another two-year programme, focusing on data analytics, machine learning, and big data technologies, requiring a relevant bachelor’s degree and a GATE score for eligibility.
IIT Kharagpur’s MTech in Artificial Intelligence is a two-year programme designed for graduates with a valid GATE score, offering advanced education in AI technologies. The institute also offers a certificate programme on hands-on Artificial Intelligence for Real-World Applications, a three-month course aimed at providing practical AI skills for bachelor’s degree holders or current students.
IIT Gandhinagar has expanded its offerings with new programs in Engineering Physics, Space Science and Engineering, and Mathematics and Computing. The Engineering Physics programme combines physics and engineering to develop solutions for high-tech industries. The Space Science and Engineering programme focuses on astrophysics, planetary science, and space exploration technology, preparing students for careers in space research organizations. The Mathematics and Computing program blends mathematics with computer science, emphasizing algorithms, data analysis, and computational modeling. All these programmes require a valid JEE Advanced score and completion of Class 12 with relevant subjects.
