NEET UG Biology Syllabus Overview
The Biology section is divided into two parts: Zoology and Botany.
Zoology
Human Physiology: The nervous system, the skeletal and muscular systems, the endocrine system, the respiratory system, the circulatory system, the excretory system and the reproductive system.
Diversity in Living World: Animal diversity, classification and systematics.
Structural Organization in Animals: Anatomy, morphology and tissues of animals.
Plant Diversity: Gymnosperms, angiosperms, pteridophytes, bryophytes and algae.
Cell Structure and Function: Theory of cells, organelle structure, cell cycle and prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell structure.
Plant Physiology: Photosynthesis, respiration, development and growth of plants and plant transport.
Reproduction in Plants: Pollination, fertilisation, seed development, flowering and sexual and asexual reproduction.
Genetics and Evolution: Evolution, the molecular foundation of inheritance and the principles of inheritance and variation.
Important High Weightage Topics on which aspirants should focus more
Zoology
Human Physiology Emphasise the need to study systems in detail, such as the neurological, respiratory, and circulatory systems. It’s also critical to comprehend how the endocrine system regulates hormones.
Reproductive Health A thorough understanding of reproductive health and associated subjects like STDs, infertility, and reproductive technologies.
Genetics and Evolution Emphasis on genetic abnormalities and their molecular causes; Mendelian inheritance and its extensions.
Animal Diversity Categorization and methodical investigation of the main animal phyla; – Knowledge of the traits and differentiations between various animal groups.
Biotechnology The use of biotechnology in animal breeding and genetics; the consequences of genetic engineering in animals; the study of transgenic animals and cloning.
Environmental Issues Awareness of environmental challenges affecting wildlife and ecosystems, understanding of conservation biology and endangered species and knowledge of the role of animals in maintaining ecological balance.
Plant Physiology Consists of photosynthesis and its various stages, respiration and its types and plant hormones and their functions.
Genetics It includes basic principles of genetics, including concepts like DNA replication, transcription and translation.
Ecology Discuss the composition and roles of ecosystems as well as biodiversity and its preservation
Division and Cell Biology Understand the meiosis, mitosis and cell cycle. Learn about the composition and roles of cell organelles as well as the ideas of cell signalling and division.
Plant Anatomy Examine the tissues and organs that make up a plant’s inside. Recognise the roles played by the various plant cell types and concentrate on how plants have adapted to their distinct environments.
Plant Diversity Classify plants based on their characteristics and evolutionary relationships and Understand the life cycles of different plant groups, including algae, bryophytes, and pteridophytes.
Plant Reproduction and Morphology Recognise the several ways that plants reproduce, including asexual and sexual. Examine the structure and morphology of various plant sections, paying particular attention to pollination processes.
In conclusion, thorough knowledge of the content and thoughtful planning are necessary for success in NEET UG biology section. Prioritise important subjects, practise regularly and keep up with emerging trends. Taking a well-rounded approach to your biology study would definitely help you do well in the NEET UG exam.
