Over the years, the large share of the budget has been allocated to sanitation – with Rs 4,907 crore of the total Rs 17 crore being allocated last year. Other sectors which see significant expenditure include health, education among others.
After a break of two years, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Commissioner Ashwani Kumar, will present budget estimates for the year 2026-2027 and the revised budget estimates for the year 2025-2026 on December 5 in front of the Standing Committee – the civic body’s main decision making arm.
The budget will then be presented in respective committees namely – Education, Health, Department of Environmental Management and Services, Garden, Rural and Works committee, and then in the ward committees.

Meanwhile, property tax, parking and advertising remain as major revenue streams for the civic body.
