Like every year, the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) introduced a number of new courses for students. From BTech Engineering in Physics at IIT-Indore and IIT-Patna to a dual degree in quantum technology at IIT Bombay, the choices for the students are many. Take a look at these courses and their structure and find out which one will suit you the best.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati launched an online Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree programme in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence on Coursera, on July 4. The applications for the BSc (Honours) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence programme will commence on July 19, 2023, and classes are scheduled to start in October 2023.
Additionally, JEE Main score is not compulsory but those eligible and registered for JEE Advanced (in any year) will get direct admission, while those without can complete an online course and gain entry based on their performance.
IIT Gandhinagar
IIT Gandhinagar on June 21 released a new BTech course in artificial intelligence. There are some subjects the course has in common with BTech Computer Science, but the majority of courses are different. It is a four-year full-time undergraduate degree programme divided into eight semesters. Candidates will have to study 6 to 7 subjects and elective options each semester.
Admission to all the programmes will be done on the basis of JEE Advanced score. Additionally, candidates must have completed class 12 (or equivalent) examination from any recognised state or central board.
This year IIT-Indore launched the maximum number of new courses — from BTech in Engineering Physics, BTech in Mathematics and Computing to BTech in Space Science and Engineering. IIT Indore will commence admissions into these courses from the 2023 academic session onwards. Admission to the information provided by the institute, admissions will be done on the basis of JEE Advanced score. Additionally, candidates must have completed Class 12 (or equivalent) examination from any recognised state or central board.
IIT Patna has also launched a new BTech programme in Engineering Physics. The primary features of the programme include providing sound training in Physics and exposing dtudents to frontier technologies. The course aims to blend contemporary physics and electrical engineering, creating professionals who are equally comfortable with both science and technology.
IIT Bombay will start an Interdisciplinary Dual Degree Programme (IIDDP) in Quantum Technology soon. The course would be offered by the Centre of Excellence in Quantum Information Computing Science and Technology (QuICST). The students enrolled in any Bachelor of Technology (BTech) course at the institute would be able to enrol for the IIDDP programme. While the structure of the dual degree programme is yet to be finalised, It would be a two-year programme with courses that would focus on quantum technology and project work that could be undertaken with a research group affiliated to the QuICST. Like other dual degree programmes, this new course will allow students to obtain a Bachelors as well as Masters degree in a span of five years. A BTech student can choose the programme in the third year of their respective course. BTech students from any branch are eligible to apply for this course.
The department of Physics at IIT Jodhpur launched a new Bachelor of Science in Physics with specialisation programme. The programme aims at attracting highly motivated students interested in basic science and cutting-edge technologies in the broad discipline of physics blended with engineering, and wish for a flexible programme to consider a variety of challenging career paths through capability-linked specialisations in Energy, Photonics, Quantum, and Advanced Plasma Technologies. Admission to this programme will done on the basis of JEE Advanced scores and the candidates must have completed class 12 in Science stream. The programme is a four year undergraduate programme equally divided into eight semesters. The admission will be done on the basis of JEE Advanced rankings.
The IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Hyderabad has launched an industry-oriented BTech programme in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. Students pursuing this program will get exposure to the role of information technology and computer science in understanding biological data. It is a full-time, four-year undergraduate course with eight semesters. Candidates will be required to study 7 to 8 subjects each semester. The admission will be done on the basis of JEE Advanced rankings.
