In an attempt to spread awareness about the accomplishments of the Indian Army amongst the young generation, and mark the 25th year of the victory in Kargil, the Indian Army on Wednesday launched the ‘Indian Army Quiz’ at the Manekshaw Club in New Delhi.

Titled ‘Battle of Minds,’ the quiz aims to reach out to about 15,000 schools across the country and is open to students between the ages of 10 and 16. It will be conducted in three stages, starting with an online elimination round, followed by the regional and national rounds.

The launch saw principals of schools from various states in attendance. Students from a host of schools in Delhi were also a part, with four teams from Army Schools participating in the mock quiz conducted as a part of the unfurling ceremony.

The questions in the mock quiz gave a glimpse of what the main rounds of the quiz may entail: ranging from the domains of literature to nature to science to Arts. A section was also dedicated to Kargil victory, in vein with the aim of the quiz to spread awareness about the same.

Ayushi from Army School in Shankar Vihar, who also bagged the runners-up position in the mock quiz, found the questions to be really interesting. Both she, and her teammate, vowed to read up more on the questions they answered in the quiz and finish the books they had started reading in its preparation. “I would like to read more about the other Param Vir Chakras. I started reading the book Kargil, I’ll just complete the book,” Ayushi said.

The three students in the contingent of Ahlcon International School in Mayur Vihar too expressed their keenness in spreading the word about the quiz to their friends back in school. One of them had won chocolate in return for answering a question posed to the audience. “The quiz has only increased my curiosity about the Indian Army,” she excitedly said.

The main quiz is slated to begin in the coming month, with the schools expected to register themselves online on the website.
