Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday said that the BJP government has done more in its two years in Rajasthan compared to the five years of the previous Congress government.
Addressing the media on the occasion of completion of his government’s two years, the CM said, “Two years ago, the people of the state placed their trust in us and gave us the opportunity to serve them. And over the past two years, we have lived up to the expectations of the people of the state. These two years are two years of good governance, development and trust, which have made a concrete beginning in changing both the direction and condition of the state.”
He said that the figures back the claims. “Our manifesto included 392 pledges, of which 274 have either been completed or are in progress. Of the commitments for five years which we had promised to the public, 70 per cent have been completed in just two years while as for budget announcements, 73 per cent of the total announcements made in the last two years have either been completed or are in progress,” he said.
The CM said that Rajasthan ranks first when it comes to 11 national schemes, second in 5 schemes, and third in 9 schemes.
Contrasting two years of his government with the five years of the previous Congress government, Sharma said that his government “has increased the power generation capacity of the state by 6,363 MW in the last two years, whereas Congress increased the capacity by only 3,952 MW in 5 years. In 5 years, Congress provided irrigation facilities to 52,000 hectares of land through the canal system, whereas we have provided irrigation facilities to about 85,000 hectares. During the 5 years of Congress, 29,430 farm ponds were built, whereas our government has built 35,368. In their 5 years, 91,582 farmers benefited from pipeline subsidy, whereas in our two years, 98,753 farmers have benefited. We provided assistance of Rs 3,433 crore to cow shelters in two years, whereas Congress provided only Rs 3,117 crore to cow shelters in five years.”
He said that his government has connected “1,640 villages with roads in 2 years, whereas Congress was able to connect only 1,100 villages with roads in 5 years. Even in the matter of building new roads, with 15,684 kilometres, we have left behind the work of 13,160 kilometres done by Congress in 5 years.”
He said that crime has also decreased under the BJP rule, with up to 12 per cent reduction in crimes compared to the last two years of the Congress government (February 2022 to December 2023), nearly 18 per cent reduction in heinous crimes like murder, up to 50 per cent reduction in robbery and looting, 35 per cent reduction in cyber-crimes, about 11 per cent reduction in atrocities against women, 21 per cent reduction in atrocities against SC and ST communities, and compared to last year, about 24,000 fewer cases were registered this year.
