India will be hosting the next edition of the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA). The 18th edition will be held in August 2025. This announcement was made by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR on August 27 at their official Facebook account. "India will host #IOAA2025! The 18th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics will be held in Mumbai, India in August 2025, with @HBCSE_TIFR leading the efforts. The IOAA flag was formally handed over to the Indian team at the closing ceremony of IOAA2024," the official post read. Meanwhile, the Indian team won one gold and four silver medals at the 17th Olympiad which was held in Brazil this year. The gold medal was won by Daksh, while the silver medals were awarded to Aayush, Banibrata, Panini and Sanidhya. "The stars from Team India shine at the 17th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics #IOAA2024, at Vassouras, Brazil, winning 1 gold (Daksh) and 4 silver medals (Aayush, Banibrata, Panini and Sanidhya). Congratulations students and mentors!," the official post by HBCSE stated. This time, Indian students secured two gold and three silver medals at the 54th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), and one gold and bronze each and two silver medals at the the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO2024).
